For secular recovery we like:
But he was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our
sins, Upon him was the chastisement that makes us whole, by his stripes we
were healed.
~ Isaiah 53:5 Are you struggling today with doubt, frustration, fear, and shame because of an ungodly addiction? Perhaps you've tried to walk in victory, but just can't seem to find the key to permanent freedom. Do you want to be loosed from the enemy's hold on your life? If you have cried out to Him for help, then the Lord is working to heal you of your addiction. He is faithful and will free you from this weakness once and for all. "But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one" (II Thessalonians 3:3). To be totally set free, ask the Lord to reveal the "root cause" for when, how, and why the addiction began. As the Lord reveals this to you, ask Him to forgive you for turning to the addiction rather than to Him for comfort. After repenting, rebuke the enemy in Jesus' name. This breaks his hold on you and frees you from condemnation, defeat, fear, and shame. Let us pray for you. "Father, in Jesus' Name we ask You to reveal to your child the root cause of this addiction and when, how and why it began. Thank You for Your strength and grace enabling them to stand against temptation and to experience victory. We agree that Jesus' blood has the power to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, and we ask now for the power of His blood to cover Your child and bring cleansing, protection, and freedom. In Jesus' Name, Amen." Now praise the Lord for the inner work of deliverance He is doing, and praise Him for His faithfulness to bring you into a new life of freedom! God Bless You! |
Why we like Recovering with Jesus in charge:
The dangers of addictive behavior for the Christian is we surrender continual submission to temptation. We learn to submit to desires while we unlearn leaning on our Lord and that we really can do all things in Christ who strengthens us.. The truth of guilt tells us we're sinning, we're doing things wrong. The horror of shame leaves us feeling not only a sinner, but we learn to identify with the sin until we feel like sin itself; from here we feel unworthy of even asking for forgiveness or repenting and open ourselves to a new totality of lies that allow no grace.. We'll find no other sureness of defeat than that we find when we turn from the Victor - Jesus Christ.
As of late Addiction is used for not only chemical abuse, but also used in
describing obsessive behavior that maybe be, or is, damaging to a persons
well-being. In His terms this is all idolatry. Anything that we set as a priority in our lives that takes more of us then we're willing to give to God can be considered idolatry. The inevitable results we see from obsessive behavior is the product of sin of placing above God anything - as it separates us from Him, and the hole in our heart we constantly try to fill is this very thing - being without our Father! Dear ones; do you know that if in his final moments Hitler was to repent, give his life to Christ and receive a new heart, that he would of been saved? How is it then that we can willfully accept the lies that come with shame, that assure our bondage? Most likely, if you're an addict, you're heard the voice of the father of lies most of your life, and that noise don't go away easy. While many self-help recovery plans encourage us to understand the damage and wreckage of our past addictive behavior, Christ would have you focus on your new life with Him. It's hard to focus on the glory of God and remain crawling back to our temporary relief, knowing our freedom is in Him. He will change you from the inside out. He will heal you. He will replace the turmoil of leading a unsatisfactory life into one of peace. He will show you joy - even in times of trials. KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS |
